A three month trial at one of UK’s leading lubricants blenders has developed into a career spanning 25 years for Stuart Holloway.
When he began his career at Morris Lubricants in Shrewsbury, working in the accounts department with John Goddard, his mum, Edna, was working in the sales office.
A quarter of a century later, after gaining experience as a product planner and working with sister company Morris Leisure, he is now the company’s customer services manager.
“I joined the company on a three month trial but nobody ever did the review, so I’m still here,” joked Stuart, who is originally from Bomere Heath but now lives with his partner, Nicky and sons, Kurtis and Ciaran, in Market Drayton.
“Late finance director Andrew Morris was very kind to me when I started with the company and I’ve never forgotten him. I actually gave my son Ciaran his middle name after Andrew.
“It’s a cracking company to work for and I have thoroughly enjoyed by 25 years. It’s a company that really does care about its staff and the directors are very approachable, which creates a great team environment.”
Over the years, Stuart has enthusiastically taken part in wide range of fundraising events for charity with the company, including dragon boat and raft races, climbing mountains and playing football on Shrewsbury Town’s ground.
Managing director Andrew Goddard presented Stuart with a gold watch and thanked him for his loyal service to the company.
Outside of work, Stuart is treasurer of Market Drayton Tigers Junior Football Club, former vice chairman of Market Drayton Town Football Club and a keen supporter of Shrewsbury Town.
As for his ambition, he said: “All I can wish for is good health and to be able to do the job to the best of my ability.”
