September 15 (SeeNews) – Swedish company SKF (STO:SKF-A) has launched operations at a new factory in Sao Paulo state to produce Kaydon slewing ring bearings for wind turbines.
The new factory, focused on the local market, opened last week in the city of Cajamar. General Electric Co (NYSE:GE) is one of SKF’s main clients in Brazil. The total investment was set at SEK 220 million (USD 26.6m/EUR 23.5m).
The inauguration took place almost two years after the European firm completed the acquisition of Kaydon Corp and nearly one year after the announcement of construction start, in October 2014.
With 6,600 sq metres (71,041 sq ft) the factory will employ 150 people. The project received support from Invest Sao Paulo, the promotion agency of investments linked to the State Department of Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation.
