Cooper Bearings, an SKF Group company, has introduced new angled pedestals for Cooper split-to-the-shaft bearings that further reduce installation cost and time. The Cooper Quick-Change™ pedestal will make its North American debut in Booth 1564 at the International WorkBoat Show in New Orleans, Dec. 1-3.
Like other Cooper bearings and pedestals, Cooper Quick-Change pedestals are split into two halves for easy assembly around a fixed shaft. But thanks to an innovative angled design, the bottom half of this pedestal slides easily under the shaft — even one with low clearance — without the use of a jack or hoist. These pedestals feature the same superior sealing options as other Cooper products.
The new pedestals are designed to replace solid bearings mounted on adapter sleeves in industry-standard housings (SAF500, SN500 and SD3100 series pillow block units) and are interchangeable with other Cooper split roller bearing pedestals. They typically use standard Cooper 01, 01E, 02, or 02E bearings.
Three series are available: the SAFQ Series for shafts from 2-3/16” to 6” in diameter; the SNQ Series for shafts from 45mm to 145mm, and the SDQ Series for shafts from 150mm to 300mm. All have bolt-hole spacings and heights-to-center that correspond to equivalent industry standards for solid bearings, although the footprint, pedestal height and length on shaft may differ.
Cooper Roller Bearings (http://www.cooperbearings.com), an SKF Group company, is a vertically integrated manufacturer of split-to-the-shaft roller bearings. It produces all standard bearing sizes and housings, with fast turnaround on large, custom-built units. Cooper invented the split roller bearing over 100 years ago and continues to lead its development.
