Bee Hive Thermal Industries Introduces Mighty Mite Killer

The company, based in Pageland, South Carolina, is introducing the Mighty Mite Killer thermal beehive system which eliminates mites and hive beetles, including the Varroa mite that is decimating honeybee colonies. The system can also be used to heat overwintering hives during periods of extreme cold. The Mighty Mite is completely organic, eliminating the need for pesticides.

The system consists of an industrial grade thermal belt, a temperature sensor, and a controller. The thermal belt is placed under the hive; the sensor is placed inside the hive; and the controller maintains the desired temperature (106 degrees for mite elimination, 90 degrees for overwintering).

OVEN Industries of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, developed the Mighty Mite’s precision electronic temperature controller.
