Strobel Energy Group (Clarks, Nebraska) has unveiled a new process unit for use in the energy sector that will measure the volumes of liquid products that are transferred to or from assets on their way to market. The lease automatic custody transfer (LACT) unit measures the net volume and quality of liquid hydrocarbons with a throughput capacity up to approximately 12,000 barrels per day. The system provides automatic measurement, sampling, and transfer of oil from a lease location into a truck terminal, storage facility or pipeline.
The units feature real-time communication to a web-based application that allows the owner to manage the process much more effectively than traditional manual systems. The increased functionality and tighter tolerance pays for itself by eliminating inaccuracies (shorts) and allowing reconciliation and billing in real-time. LACT was developed in collaboration with industry partner Automation Electronics, Inc. (Casper, Wyoming).
The automated LACT units have been installed and are operational at facilities in the Permian Basin, with plans to install at multiple basins across the U.S.
Benefits and capabilities include:
• Remote access volumetric product movements
• Minimize product volume discrepancies
• Real-time billing
• Surveillance and monitoring of drivers and carriers
• Provided with Meter and/or Sample Ports
• Designed/Built per API Specification 11N
