The U.S. Army has demonstrated mileage improvements for diesel trucks using a proprietary on-demand hydrogen injection system. Commercial Hydrogen, Inc. of Houston, Texas, developed the system that is designed to improve mileage and air quality for diesel trucks.
The original demonstration was at Fort Hood Army Garrison in February of 2012. The test vehicle was a 2000 FL80 oil truck. The hydrogen injection system was tested by a local CAT Army contract mechanic.
The use of retrofit kits is improving mileage and maintenance costs, and air emissions have been improved too.
This new product addresses two issues in the trucking industry: Profit margins are experiencing downward pressure due to increasing competition in the industry. There is also an increased concern for environmental responsibility, raising the need for environmentally friendly fueling.
